I Don't Know How To Write A BlogYou want to blog, tweet, post and grow your online marketing. You want to get Twitter followers, Facebook fans, LinkedIn connections and increased web traffic, but you don’t know how to begin.  It’s easier than you think. With a little bit of web research you can generate blogging ideas galore.

FAQ and SAQ

To find blogging ideas, begin with questions. Ask yourself and jot down answers to:

  • “What five frequently asked questions (FAQ) do I answer every day from customers and prospects?” Your answers provide topics for your first 5 blog posts.
  • “What five questions should my clients and prospects be asking (SAQ)? Now you have your next 5 blog posts.

Keyword Research

Perhaps you are a consultant and the number one question you answer day after day is: “How much do your services cost?”  Then the keyword phrase for a blog post might be consulting costs or consulting fees.

Go to Google AdWords Keyword Tools.  Type “consultant costs” or “consultant fees” in the box labeled keyword or phrase.  Scroll down and look for a word or phrase that has average (box half filled with blue) competition and global and local monthly searches that average approximately 1,000.  Choose the phrase that best coincides with your topic. For this example, I chose “average consulting fees.”

Finding blogging ideas in a not-so-common place

Now you know that your headline, first paragraph and meta description should include the phrase average “consulting fees.”  But you aren’t quite certain how to blog about this topic. That means it’s time for more research.

Type your keyword phrase into your browser.  Upon completion of the search, click on the images tab in the search engine.

Hover your courser over an image.  If the description interests you, click and browse the article published with the image.  You’ll find what others have written about your topic.  This will feed your imagination and before you know it, you’ll have lots of blogging ideas perfect for your audience and your company.

When I searched for “average consulting fee” images and clicked to the home site of a few images, here’s what I found:

  • How to set consulting fees from Business Consulting Buzz blog.
  • Information on industry specific consulting fees (healthcare, education, golf, etc.)
  • Factors consultants should consider in setting fees
  • Customer return on investment when hiring consulting services

Once you complete your image research, make a list of the ideas you find.  Then select one for your post and begin writing.  I told you it would be easy.
